About us
HISTORICAL PROFILE & ACHIEVEMENT
In 1992 the national Christian councils of The Gambia, Ghana, Liberia and Nigeria met to reflect on how national councils and churches could be mobilised to address the causes of hunger and poverty, violation of human rights, injustice and armed conflicts. In 1994 FECCIWA was established to provide a forum for Christian councils and churches in West Africa to address these issues and to facilitate and promote programs to tackle their root causes.
We have mitigated the effects of trauma after armed conflicts through trauma-healing and reconciliation programs in Liberia, Sierra Leone an Ivory Coast.
We monitor fully government activities and working towards justice and equality. Our members raise their voices and speak out to the public when their respective governments do not acting in the best interest of their citizens. As a result, in many places people now have a say in decisions that affect their lives.
We have been successful in combating corruption by building islands of integrity and transparency in Schools: for instance in Cote d’Ivoire, Ghana, Liberia, Nigeria and Togo. We will continue our efforts until corruption is reduced in Schools, Churches, Christian Based Organizations and in the entire societies in West Africa.
We are involved in Civil Education and Elections monitoring in Nigeria, Ghana, Liberia and Sierra Leone.
We know we still have a long way to go. Therefore we keep on doing all that is humanly possible to improve the lives of people in West Africa.

Why Our Work Matters
West Africa faces complex challenges, including conflict, poverty, food insecurity, environmental degradation, and social inequality. By speaking and acting together, churches can become powerful agents of transformation.
Through regional collaboration, FECCIWA has contributed to strengthening peace initiatives, promoting interfaith dialogue, supporting vulnerable communities, and advocating for policies that improve the lives of millions across the region. We continue to provide a respected prophetic voice that inspires hope, promotes justice, and advances sustainable development.
Building a Better West Africa Together
For more than three decades, FECCIWA has united churches around a common mission: building a West Africa where peace prevails, justice is upheld, and every individual has the opportunity to thrive.
Together with our members, partners, and supporters, we remain committed to transforming lives, strengthening communities, and creating a future filled with hope for generations to come.
